Located in the Bixby Knolls area of Long Beach, Mirage is a shop with an identity crisis. Anything you want, you can have. Boasting a large floor plan, Mirage has a very eclectic layout of twists, corners, private nooks and small, low tables.
With the walls covered in tapestry and curtains hanging from the windows, it reminds you of the coffee shop where you used to discuss Kierkegaard and Joyce back when you were in college. And it sort of is.
The store portion features sandwiches, hummus, Egyptian soda, coffee, candy bars and mixed coffee drinks, among other things. Hookahs are for rent, although smoking is only allowed on the patio.
The cigar selection is small, but the available cigars are of good quality. This is the sister shop of Big Daddy’s in Naples, and the owner Tom makes sure that things are up to his meticulous standards.
In the back of the shop is a stage with seating for 100 people. They routinely host open mike nights, comedy night, as well as musical guests and art exhibits. The patio is large with zipper-down sides when the weather changes, and is a comfortable place to watch the traffic go by.
Mirage is located at 539 Bixby Road, Long Beach, CA
This location no longer sells cigars… there is still great food, great hookah and a great open mike night on Fridays.
